Flaming June

June favourites and fails

June, eh? What a month. I’m sorry, I have no social commentary for you. I just want to talk about beauty products.

Lee Stafford Hair Growth leave in treatment

This was possibly the biggest win of June. I am very sceptical about leave in topical hair treatments, I don’t know why. Anyway, this is excellent. It has helped to grow back almost all my lost hair. I no longer feel embarrassed tying my hair up, and have even started jogging again. If you’re suffering from hair loss I urge you to give this a go. It smells amazing, and left no residue in my hair.

Would I repurchase? Yes, I already have.

Noughty Wave Hello taming cream for curly hair

Well, Noughty get props for the name but no points for anything else. This hair curling cream is awful. I used it as a sole product and I looked like Hagrid. I then tried it mixed with another product and it made my hair hair weirdly bushy like Hermione. Whats next, Snape? An absolute fail.

Would I repurchase? Hell to the no.

Elf bite sized palettes

Instagram is all abuzz with these little palettes. I was very excited when I found out about these, as I love eyeshadow quads and trios. I actually prefer them to big palettes. I bought two shade variations; 'Rose Water' and 'Acai You'. Of the two I far prefer 'Rose water'. It is easy to blend and create several different eye looks with. 'Acai You' is not as pigmented, and a little dusty, particularly the matte periwinkle shade. I was a little disappointed with it.

Would I repurchase? Yes, I would like to try 'Hot Jalapeno', the green palette and 'Cream and Sugar' which has a neutral selection.

Essence the Nude edition eyeshadow palette

This is an amazing eyeshadow palette, not just for the price, but in it's own right. It doesn’t look like much but it is the most easily blendable and softest eyeshadow palette I think I’ve ever used. It reminds me of the old Urban Decay palettes before they switched to the Naked formula. The colour selection is gorgeous and very easy to wear. It lasts hours and hours without creasing or fading.

Would I repurchase? Yes, and I am trying to find the Rose edition of this palette.

Stila Stay all day liquid lipstick in ‘Beso’

So there I was, vodka in hand, watching ‘Birds of Prey’ and utterly fascinated by Harley Quinn’s lipstick. Drunk me temporarily forgot that I own perhaps dozens of red lipsticks already, and suddenly, I needed that one. After doing some sleuthing, aka googling, I found out that the lipstick she wears in the film is Stila 'Beso', with a darker lip liner. Sober me was somewhat confused when 'Beso' arrived the next day, but also rather pleased to receive a surprise lipstick. Can we just take a moment to appreciate Stila’s packaging? I’m an absolute sucker for gold. I’ve put this in my fancy lipsticks pot, so I can admire it daily. The formula of this lipstick is excellent. The applicator is nice and slim so it’s easy to apply without lip liner. It lasts through eating all but the greasiest of food, and it’s completely non-drying. The colour is a very glamourous bright neutral red, part way between Mac’s 'Russian Red' and 'Ruby Woo'. If you like either of these shades, you’ll enjoy 'Beso'.

Would I repurchase? Yes, but not anytime soon. I have enough liquid lipsticks to use up.

L’Oréal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Liquid Lipstick in ‘I Enjoy’ and ‘I Rebel’

These are not a new product by any means. I’ve owned them both for several months, perhaps even close to a year, but they deserve another mention. These matte lipsticks are part liquid lipstick and part stain and there’s nothing else on the market quite like them. We have had a lot of hot weather in the UK the past few months, and they have been unbelievably light and comfortable to wear. 'I Enjoy' is a berry shade, and 'I Rebel' a deep pink. Both shades last through anything, and gradually fade to a pink stain. If you work long hours or live in a hot country, I wholeheartedly recommend these to you.

Would I repurchase? Yes, I have my eye on ‘I Captive’ a purple-y shade.
