Black Magic

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in ‘intense black’.

The world is divided into two types of people; those who have used Stila Stay All Day eyeliner, and those who have not. Those who have will wax lyrical about its longevity, precision and colour intensity. Those who haven’t will probably mention the Kat von D Tattoo Liner, to which I will give a resigned sigh.

I’m allergic to the Kat von D Tattoo Liner, as I am to the vast majority of liquid liners. They make my eyelids burn like a vampire on a beach holiday. I’m NOT allergic to Stila Stay All Day. This is, obviously, a huge plus point.

The nib of Stila tapers into a thin point, perfect for precise work or for building a thicker line. You can layer Stay All Day and it won’t flake, smudge or transfer. It’s the only eyeliner I’ve ever worn that doesn’t wear off in my inner corners. I’ve worn it through sweaty gym workouts, and sobbing through sad films, and it hasn’t budged.

Of course, it’s not perfect, the felt nib can get a little bendy when you’ve had it a while, which can make precise flicks more difficult, but this generally doesn’t happen until the eyeliner is coming up to retirement age. A full-sized pen generally lasts me a good 3-4 months, and this is with wearing eyeliner every day.

I was wary initially, in my barren, badly-lined days, to splash out 14 quid on an eyeliner, but it’s worth every penny, and then some. I don’t know what’s in this eyeliner pen, but it must be magic.
